The Next Evolution…

LogoHello J Spot Community!

Over the last few weeks when I have written Take the Risk  and True Courage with an eye toward believing we can do things beyond what we can see with our eyes only.  Now I have the opportunity to do just that.

As I have spoken with some of you, I have shared that J. Smith & Co. is much more than just a business. For me, J. Smith & Co. is the culmination of a dream that, for a while, I didn’t even know I had. A dream that included creating a company for the sole purpose of helping others reach their goals. Each day I get closer and closer. Each day I talk to someone new who is happy to hear about what I do and how they can partner with me. It is truly a surreal experience for me. Each time it happens I am reminded that I am truly blessed.

That said, please allow me to share with you the next evolution of J. Smith & Co.

Talk radio.

Starting on Monday July 28th I debuted the very first episode of my new talk radio show, Behind the Desk. Behind the Desk is a show that I created to talk about Human Resources and Human Resources related issues. Here are the details….

  • New episodes of Behind the Desk air every Monday at 2:00 PM PST.
  • Behind the Desk airs on an Internet “radio” station on the 1TalkNetwork.  In order to tune in, you can do so in 2 ways:
    1. Log on to Click the large button “play” button next to the words “Listen Live”.
    2. Go to your app store and download the RadioLoyalty or Tunein app. Once in the app search 1talknetwork.
  • If you miss the show on Mondays, you can always catch replays of the show each day the rest of the week at 2:00 PM PST.

I am so grateful to have you all as a part of my network. Without you this does not work. So tune in. Leave your feedback and suggestions for radio show topics below in the comments section.

Continue to be blessed!

Today is the day….

We have been walking our journey together for a few months now. With the on-set of Spring and all of the newness that it brings, I thought that I would try something new.  How about you write the blog this time around.  I will even get you started.

“In the spirit of the vernal equinox, today is the day….”

Now you tell us…What is today the day for?

Take the risk, leave your contribution to the blog below where it says “Leave Your Contribution to the Community…”  Let us support you on the journey to finding your passion.

Take the Risk

This week I want to talk about taking the risk. I thought it would be a nice follow-up to last weeks post about true courage.

I was reading an article by Best Selling Author and Forbes Columnist, Margie Warrell. And she had some pretty interesting things to say about risk taking. Let me paraphrase her four major points. First, we focus on the probability of failure. I am sure that we all can relate to that whether it’s in our relationships, our careers or just in life in general. I think we almost always go to what’s wrong with our ideas instead of what’s right. The second point she touched on was exaggerating the consequences of what might happen if something does go wrong. I do this one very well! I can’t tell you the number of times that I have allowed this little hidden talent of mine to prevent me from doing or saying something that the world really needed. The third point spoke about our ability to handle the consequences of taking a risk. In this point, she emphasizes that “…women are the biggest culprits when it comes to underestimating their abilities and buying into self-doubt.” I wonder how true that statement would be if I added “women from diverse backgrounds….” The final point that Ms. Warrell made was how we discount the cost of inaction and perpetuate the status quo. I imagine there are quite a few areas in life that I am sure we are all saying this in.

So with all of this in mind, I ask the same questions that Ms. Warrell asks:

  1. What are the areas in your life where you could be courageous?
  2. How will continuing to stick with the status quo in that area cost you one year from now?
  3. Where in life, are you under-estimating yourself and holding back from taking a risk?

At the J Spot, I can start the conversation, but it takes your thoughts, ideas and love to make it grow.  So, take a risk, leave a comment below where it says “Leave Your Contribution to the Community…” and let us support you on the journey to finding your passion.
